Sim racing FOV calculator in 3 steps: pick your monitor, pick your game and get the value to enter, with a visual comparison between a wrong and a correct FOV.
ACC FOV calculator
Assetto Corsa Competizione asks for the vertical FOV. Enter your monitor and your distance: the value is ready to type in.
Same monitor, different FOV: on the left the car looks far away and small, on the right the proportions are true to life. That is what this tool fixes.
Your monitor and where you sit
Just two numbers. The diagram updates as you choose.
Which sim do you use?
This gives you the right number: some games want vertical FOV, others horizontal.
Your FOV
Copy this value and set it in the game.
VerticalVertical FOV
You will find it under Settings → View
Your correct FOV, in the cockpit
Compared with a FOV that is too wide (the red panel above), here the car and the distances have the right proportions: you brake at the right point.
Where to set the FOV in Assetto Corsa Competizione
- The FOV is not in the video options. Go on track, open the pause menu and choose View Settings: the FOV is there, together with seat position and mirror.
- Enter the vertical value from the calculator. You can also bind a key to raise or lower the FOV while you drive.
- Set the seat after the FOV, not before: with the correct FOV the dashboard looks bigger, and the temptation is to push the seat back to “see more”.
ACC FOV chart
The vertical FOV for the most common monitors, by distance from your eyes to the centre of the screen. Single screen, flat or curved: the curve does not change the value.
| Monitor | 50 cm | 60 cm | 70 cm | 80 cm | 90 cm |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 24" 16:9 | 33.3° | 28.0° | 24.1° | 21.2° | 18.9° |
| 27" 16:9 | 37.2° | 31.3° | 27.0° | 23.7° | 21.2° |
| 32" 16:9 | 43.5° | 36.7° | 31.8° | 28.0° | 25.0° |
| 34" 21:9 | 37.6° | 31.7° | 27.3° | 24.0° | 21.4° |
| 49" 32:9 | 37.2° | 31.4° | 27.1° | 23.8° | 21.2° |
Calculated with the same formula as the tool above. Measure the distance for real, seated as you drive: it is the number people get wrong most often.
Triple screens
ACC has a triple screen mode in the video options (added in version 1.1) and the triple screen parameters in View Settings: screen width, bezel width and the angle of the side screens. According to 505 Games support, ACC draws one scene across the three monitors and corrects the sides with a Pannini projection, rather than drawing each screen separately.
Good to know
- A typical 27-inch 16:9 monitor at 60 cm gives about 31° vertical: much tighter than the default. Give it a few sessions before judging, it is the change that most improves braking points.
- The value is the same for every car: if the view feels different car to car, it is the seat position that moves, not the FOV.
