Calcolatore FOV per SimRacing in 3 step: scegli il monitor, scegli il gioco e ottieni il valore da inserire, con confronto visivo tra FOV sbagliato e FOV corretto.

FOV Calculator · FPS Italia

Calculate your perfect FOV for your sim rig

Three steps: pick your monitor, pick your game, copy the value.

✕ Wrong FOV
✓ Correct FOV

Same monitor, different FOV: on the left the car looks far away and small, on the right the proportions are true to life. That is what this tool fixes.

Your monitor and where you sit

Just two numbers. The diagram updates as you choose.

"
cm
Measure from your eyes to the centre of the screen.
°
The FOV is calculated on the centre monitor.
R
E.g. 1000 = 1000R. It does not change the FOV, it helps you pick the distance.

Which sim do you use?

This gives you the right number: some games want vertical FOV, others horizontal.

Compared with a FOV that is too wide (the red panel above), here the car and the distances have the right proportions: you brake at the right point.

What FOV is, and why it changes everything

The FOV (field of view) is how much of the world the game shows you on screen. Too wide and you see a lot, but everything looks distant and small: you lose the sense of speed and miss your apexes. Get it right and the distances you perceive match the real ones: the car becomes readable and your driving more consistent.

The right value depends on three things: your monitor diagonal, how far your eyes are from the screen, and how many screens you have. The calculator above combines them and gives you the number to enter in the game.

How to measure

  • Diagonal: in inches, the figure your monitor manufacturer states.
  • Distance: from your eyes to the centre of the screen, seated as you drive. Actually measure it, do not guess: this is the number people get wrong most often.
  • Screens: with triple screens the angle of the side monitors matters too.

Frequently asked questions

Will the correct FOV make me faster?

Not straight away, but it will make your lap times more consistent: you read speed and distance correctly, so you brake and get on the power at the same points every lap. Coming from a very wide FOV, give it a few sessions.

Why does the calculated value look "too zoomed in"?

That is normal: the geometrically correct FOV is tighter than the game default, which is tuned to show more rather than to be realistic. Give it a few sessions before you judge — once you adapt, going back is hard.

Does this apply to VR?

No. In VR the field of view is set by the headset optics and should not be changed: the scale is correct by design.

Vertical or horizontal: which value do I need?

It depends on the game. Assetto Corsa, ACC and rFactor 2 use vertical FOV; iRacing and Automobilista 2 use horizontal. The calculator above picks the right one when you select your sim, so there is nothing to convert by hand.

Do triple screens or a curved monitor change the maths?

With triple screens the FOV is calculated on the centre monitor, then you enable the game triple mode: the game has to account for the angle of the side screens, otherwise it stretches the image and distorts the edges. A curved monitor does not change the value: the curve only reduces distortion at the sides.
